Artist's Comments

This is actually a submission for Terracult over at DA. But since i dont know how to submit, and didnt want to wait any longer to find out, I am posting this now.

Anyway, this terrain is sort of my own terrain for a change. I combined two terrains to gether to get this, I think I combined Halcyon and Mistril together for this one.

The snow surface is mine, this is a slight edit from the snow surface I used in my last upload. I like this one better personally. The clouds I think could be a bit better, but I cant get them anybetter then that.

One of the few times I didnt add water into a render, but I dont think this render came out to bad.

Anyway, comments and critiques are welcome.

The lighting in this one is spot on Tsuki. I especially like the way it burns the very top most edges on each side of the image. Especially on those cool formations on the right. 90 per cent of the clouds are beautiful but those small puffs in the top left which look ghosted might be better cloned out or smudged/blurred.
I guess this is a firmament combo? I have to give that a try sometime but I've just started a new render myself which looks to go well into tomorrow afternoon.
OK back to the image. The bump on the snow is perfect. It looks crunchy and crystalline. (two "L's"?) anyway. And the color is very nice too. I'm not sure if it's full white because of the shadows, but again the way the highlights shine on the terrain it really gives zing to the render with the subdued light in the central drifts. I think it would be great if you brought an additional snow layer in to cover up some areas. Make a custom distribution overlay in PS or something to layer over that line of rock dabbles that goes left<>right poking through the snow in that low spot in the flat in the almost immediate foreground. Horizontally ~central left right in the image just inside the shadow. The rock color is perfect.
This is a great POV for this terrain. I really like the features of the ridge on the right. Very natural feel. Good job.

Yup I do. Thanks again :)

Yeah, seems its a nice piece according to around the places i posted it. Its annoying that right after i posted it here, that DA decided to update the commenting stuff or something, and no one was able to post or anything...... err...

anyway, thanks for the comment :D

Thanks for the lengthy comment :D

I spent abit of time on the clouds, and finally just decided to leave them be, its changed quite a bit from the last prerender i did, the good friend i always run my work past when i am able to, stated she didnt like the clouds in the last one, so i think i spent about, a day or so working on them. Rendered out and am now finished.

I would have gone into Photoshop, except i dont know the program to well. So, meh, oh well, one small error :)

Thanks again for the comment :)
